Purpose:

Over the last few years Investor Services has observed its fund clients place a greater emphasis on global distribution support. To ensure it continues to meet client expectations, and remain competitive in the market, it has created a new line of business called Distribution Support Services (DSS). This new start up enterprise has huge potential and there is an aggressive sales plan to grow the business in the first year through take up of DSS products by both new and existing clients.

DSS is a collection of new and existing products aimed at helping fund clients manage the cost and complexity of being a global fund distributor.

The role of Distribution Strategy Business Support forms an important part of the DSS team. The role involves working closely with the Head of DSS, the Distribution Strategy Consultant, internal stakeholders and clients to support, develop and deliver on key deliverables to ensure clients receive the highest standard of service in respect of the articulation and delivery of its Distribution Strategy (DS) and overall DSS products.

The principle responsibilities of Distribution Strategy Business Support are articulated below.

Principal Responsibilities:

Measures of success:

1. Sales Support

Supports in the preparation of DSS client deliverables, e.g. reports, analysis, findings and recommendations.

Where required to do so, interacts with stakeholders to obtain relevant information, coordinate work, compile and deliver reports.

Number of documents prepared

Positive feedback from BNYM stakeholders and clients

2. Knowledge Management

Manages, maintains, enhances and control access to the DSS knowledge database, including but not limited to:

• Market Intelligence reports

• Key distributor profiles

• Peer group offerings

Accuracy of the DSS database

Positive feedback from BNYM stakeholders

3. Marketing Support

Supports the development of DSS marketing materials.

• Provide input into marketing campaigns

• Helps draft content to be used in marketing presentations and RFPs

Number Marketing documents prepared

Accuracy of the marketing material

Accuracy of product descriptions featured in marketing collateral

4. DIS Vendor Management

Support the Head of DSS to manage and oversee services provided by third party strategic vendors.

• Monitor agreed vendor KPIs

• Produce and review reports as required

Discounts and terms negotiated

Be seen as to go to person to ensure any updates / amends to the toolset

5. Team Development Teamwork

Within DSS we need to build a team that will both develop and operate a growing range of services to support funds distribution.

To be successful, the DSS Business Support Analyst will need to operate effectively within a team environment and engage with a wide number of stakeholders including Sales, RMs and in particular Transfer Agency colleagues.

Cultural values discussed, communicated and reflected in the actions and work of the team.

Engagement with key stakeholders and participation in key working groups and committees to support sales opportunities and other DS related TA product and client service delivery meetings.

Feedback from internal stakeholders.

7. Risk and Compliance

Balance effectively BNYMs overall compliance and risk interests with profitable product developments.

Demonstrate the highest standards of personal and corporate ethics through adhering to agreed BNYM policies and procedures.

Operate within the BNYMs ethical structure when managing Agreements, SLAs and other client documentation, liaising with the appropriate BNYM personnel to ensure that the standards are upheld.

Qualifications

Key Attributes

To be recognised the DS Business Support both internally and externally and establishing, maintaining and communicating with key stakeholders.

Ability to engage with key internal stakeholders, management, risk, compliance, sales and RMs

Ability to effectively understand client needs and influence clients in areas of product discussions and decisions

To be in demand from clients and BNY Mellon staff to provide input to DS discussions and developments.

Ability to demonstrate excellent corporate citizenship

Ability to communicate effectively, in verbal (including Presentation format) and written form, internally and with external parties

Experience Knowledge

Have a solid understanding of global fund distribution and regulatory issues

Have a track record of helping fund clients grow their business and sell their products cross border

Strong analytical skills along with a strong attention to detail

Multi-skilled, flexible in approach, able to adapt to changing needs and priorities

Professional relevant academic qualifications preferable eg: Degree level preferred
