Distribution Center Assistant General Manager

Job Description Manages and coordinates the receiving, order filling, shipping and off shift operations of a distribution center in an efficient and cost effective manner. Ensures high standards of quality and customer service in delivering merchandise to the stores. Responsibilities/Skills/Experience Requirements JOB RESPONSIBILITIES ?Ensures stores are supplied with ordered merchandise in a timely and efficient manner. ?Establishes productivity and quality goals and ensures these goals are adhered to. ?Assists the General Manager with special projects, such as process improvement teams and identification of best practices recommendation and implementation. Conducts quality, accuracy and housekeeping evaluation to ensure adherence to company standards. ?Assists General Manager with short-and long-term planning, employment of resources, budgeting and expense control, implementation of operational policies and programs, and systems for a major functional area. ?Establishes and maintains staffing plans that support anticipated volume fluctuations. ?Responsible for developing a sound business plan which will drive year over year performance improvement in all functional departments. ?Develop managers to fill Assistant General Manager and General Manager roles in other Sears Holdings formats. ?Ensures a clean, safe and accident free working environment with a focus on quality and accuracy. ?Monitors, evaluates, assesses, manages, develops and revises key productivity indicators, such as financial, productivity, service and people goals in order to reduce and control cost. ?Establishes sound process improvement initiatives that drive year over year improvement. ?Assists General Manager with staff hiring, orientation, training, performance evaluation, pay increase determination, mentoring, and associate development efforts for the distribution center. When necessary ensures disciplinary actions or discharge measures are taken. ?Manages and monitors compliance with merchandise damage minimization efforts in order to ensure proper handling of merchandise. ?Shares and provides appropriate information and anticipates information needs of all distribution center associates in accordance with company quality and communication time schedule requirements. ?Reviews overages, shortages and manual backorders with appropriate operations managers in order to maintain inventory accuracy. ?Represents distribution center in community as appropriate. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Education/Training ?High school diploma or equivalent required. ?Bachelor?s degree in Business Administration or Logistics preferred. Experience ?Minimum of ten (10) years distribution center management, operations experience or equivalent. Role Specific Abilities/Skills ?Strong knowledge of distribution center practices and procedures. ?Strong leadership, administrative, organizational, managerial and communication skills. ?Strong analytical ability to gather and interpret information, and develop, recommend, implement solutions. Years Experience 10 - 15 Years Experience Preferred Minimum Education Bachelors Level Degree Travel Requirements On Occasion (Less than 5%)
