Job Summary and Mission
Responsible for an assigned receiving area and at least one major account. Assist warehouse staff in receiving general cargo including the manual loading and unloading with the use of a pallet jack, hand truck or forklift, general labor, and warehouse maintenance. Models and acts in accordance with our guiding principles and core values.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Develop and maintain excellent service to internal and external customers at all times.
- Receive cargo from incoming trucks by removing from truck by hand, or by using manual equipment such as hand truck or pallet jack, or by using forklift.
- Verify and note the count and condition of cargo received, knowing when to either refuse or accept with notation.
- Record receipts to “on-hand” form, and to log book. Verify that proper documentation is attached.
- Segregate cargo received by account or intended location, and store in proper location.
- Perform light forklift duties, and learn to containerize basic loads.
- Assume responsibility for at least one major account to include, familiarity with specific customer requirements and needs, and direct interaction with those directing the account traffic.
- Assist in various warehouse maintenance tasks, including sweeping floors, putting equipment away, etc.
Summary of Experience and Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- One to two years related experience.
- Minimum one year industry experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to operate forklift and pallet jack.
- Accurate typing skills and/or data entry skills.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, web-based and job specific software applications.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using units of U.S. currency, weight, volume and distance measurements.
- Responds promptly and professionally to customer needs and requests for service and assistance.
- Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
- Read and interpret documents and write routine correspondence.
- Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
- Gathers and analyzes information skillfully.
- Balances team and individual responsibilities, exhibits objectivity and openness to others' views.
- Consistently at work and on time.
Licenses and Certifications
- Valid state issued driver's license.
- Forklift Driver Certification.
