Position Summary
Provide strategic and functional leadership to enable company to attain business goals. Charged with driving Distribution and Logistics strategies to assure product availability to support on time delivery to customers. Responsible for the efficient operation of the Shipping, Receiving, Material Handling and Warehousing activities. Position shall provide effective leadership and direction to the external Distribution Centers and assure uniformity, efficiency, and compliance with company policies.

- Transportation and Freight
- Assure adherence to all customer, regulatory, and company, requirements.
- Create, communicate, and maintain mode and routing instructions to assure all freight is moved at the most cost and time effective manner.
- Maintain accurate customer and carrier information in database. Enter manufacturing calendars to new modes of delivery in AX to support accurate scheduling and order promising.
- Work with Customer Service and other departments to resolve shipping issues with customers. Promptly communicate missed delivery dates to Customer Service.
- Negotiate with carriers and direct 3PL and FBAP service providers to assure maximum value for every freight dollar spent.
- Drive improvements in on-time delivery to customers and freight as a percent of sales metrics.
- Author, communicate, maintain and enforce a Company Approved Carrier List. Assure performance of approved carriers to target standards for quality, delivery and cost.
- Warehouse Management
- Manage Internal and External Warehouses and Distribution Centers and assure effective operation.
- Assure all pick, pack, ship and document preparation activities are efficiently and accurately executed.
- Drive business wide system process improvements through managing multi-site locations of Warehouse and Distribution Centers.
- Utilize forecast and Distribution Requirements Planning methodologies to develop shipping and replenishment schedules for distribution facilities.
- Assure efficient resource and space utilization though effective material stocking, production replenishment and picking route processes.
- Execute an effective cycle counting program consistent with company targets.
- Receiving
- Provide appropriate direction to Warehouse Supervisor to assure the accuracy and timeliness of all raw material receipts, transactions, and stocking/delivery activities.
- Work with Purchasing to align material receipts with efficient resource allocation through dock scheduling and level loading practices.
- Oversee the receiving from Shows, Commercial, and other non-refund materials, making sure all records are properly handled and recorded.
- Continuous Improvement
- Support and actively contribute to all continuous improvement activities and initiatives.
- Improve business systems through effective use of lean principles, Hoshin methodologies, value stream mapping, standard work, and use of key performance indicators, (KPI's).
- Support and implement the Company Quality Policy and prepare requisite work instructions to document key operational processes.
- Build relationships with strategic customers through logistics initiatives. Integrate concepts from customers, competitors, industry and professional training to continuously improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Management of Resources
- Monitor and track department expenses.
- Establish training/competency/certification standards for all employees and implement appropriate measures to achieve desired results.
- Work effectively as a part of the team while giving importance to individual member's and overall team's achievement of established goals.
- Maintain discipline, morale, harmonious personnel relations and handle complaints in accordance with company policy; make effective recommendations for promotions, transfers, terminations.
- Enforce prescribed safety rules and regulations; insure that work areas are maintained in a neat and orderly condition.
- Assign and maintain the flow of work; anticipate or investigate delays, inaccuracies, or inadequate performance and take corrective action.
- All other duties as assigned by management.
Skills Abilities
Education: Bachelor's Degree (four year college or university)
Professional Certification: CPIM, CPSM, CTL
Experience: 5 - 10 years-experience in a high-volume warehouse/distribution environment, preferably multi-site with international exposure. Minimum 10 years freight management experience with all modes; SPS, LTL, TL, CL, LCL, Ocean, Intermodal, expedited. 5 - 10 years-experience transportation contracting experience. 5 - 10 years-experience managing operations personnel. Experience managing 3PL and FBAP services. Knowledge and experience working with ERP, MRP, WMS, and EDI systems. Strong quantitative, analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
