This position will report to the Regional Business Director. The individual in this position will be responsible for providing top-level leadership in this therapeutic area. In this role they will need to effectively: Provide leadership and supervisory management for 7-10 sales professionals. Conduct fieldwork sessions to train, coach, and motivate Virology Sales Specialists to achieve annual sales goals and objectives. Plan and conduct district meetings to direct and communicate company strategies, motivate Virology Sales Specialists and other core team members and build an effective district team. Identify and recommend the need for territory realignment and deployment based on business opportunities.
Recruit, select, and hire qualified and diverse sales force through use of JJ approved process for selection. Develop training schedule and create 90-Day New Hire plans with field trainers and sales training to ensure representatives demonstrate proficiency in all areas outlined in the Phase I-II field training agenda. Exercise first line management control over expenses, budgets, compensation, and policies. Promote the business value of diverse perspectives, ideas, backgrounds, styles, and cultures. Set clear performance standards and holds people accountable for results. Track and analyze territory/district progress toward sales goals and objectives with field reps. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of medical and disease state knowledge related to Janssen Therapeutics' Virology products; use this information to support sales people and other direct reports in the field. Establish and maintain relationships with key decision makers in geographical area. Assist with the development of sales strategies and plans to achieve sales goals on assigned geographical accounts. Lead District Teams to meet business needs and facilitate product pull through. Provide business intelligence to marketing and sales colleagues (e.g. assessing risks and opportunities, improving district strategy, spotting emerging key accounts).
Partner in different markets and share key business knowledge with Virco colleagues to achieve results and goals. Build teamwork through effective communications at the District and Regional levels to optimize sales results. Serve as lead coordinator and member of District Council Teams (Key Accounts Manager, Access and Reimbursement and others). Actively facilitate sharing of knowledge and of best practices.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in life sciences and/or business administration. A minimum of 8 years of relevant Health Care Sales experience required. Institutional, antiretroviral, HIV-related sales, anti-infective or specialty sales experience is preferred. A strong candidate will also provide proven leadership experience. Previous direct responsibility managing and developing people preferred. Extensive knowledge of the HIV/AIDS disease state and therapeutics is preferred.
Ability to identify key decision makers and develop strong relationships and customer loyalty, willingness to travel, expertise in driving sales results required. Skilled at team building, coaching, planning and organizing. Experience and sensitivity to work with diverse groups, excellent written and verbal communication skills and proven interpersonal, negotiation and persuasion skills are required. Experience launching an antiretroviral product is desired.
