Divisional Accountant Job in Edmonton, Alberta Canada

 

Position: Divisional Accountant (Commercial Division)

Operations include manufacturing plants located in Edmonton and Mississauga and sales branches/offices in Vancouver, Kelowna, Edmonton, Calgary, Lethbridge, Red Deer, Saskatoon, Regina, Winnipeg, Mississauga and Atlantic Canada.

Our Commercial Glass Division provides supply and install of Curtain Wall, Window Wall, and Commercial Store Front Entry Systems for commercial high rise, commercial industrial, store front, and multi-unit residential apartment and hotel type buildings. We’re currently seeking a Divisional Accountant.
 

In this position, you will be responsible for:

·         Financial reporting and budgeting:

o        Preparing budgets for all branches within the division based on input from management

o        The preparation of all journal entries

o        The preparation and distribution of financial statements

o        Ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all transactions flowing into the GL from the sub ledgers

o        Maintaining the coordination and accuracy of all balance sheet accounts and the monthly reconciliation

·         Accounts payable and accounts receivable management:

o        Reviewing AP data entry to ensure accuracy

o        Reviewing AR to ensure accurate account coding

o        Making collection calls on overdue accounts

·         Acting as system administrator for QuickBooks accounting system

·         Supervising accounting and clerical staff

·         Overseeing payroll for salaried and hourly employees

·         Maintaining fixed asset and capital expense request records

·         Ensuring monthly inventory is performed and recorded accurately

·         Ensuring all tax payments and other statutory and regulatory requirements and filings are met in a timely manner and reconciled to general ledger

·         Performing preparation work for annual audit as required

 

 

Primary Qualifications Required:             

·         Accounting designation (CGA or CMA) is ideal. Individuals working toward their accounting designation with an equivalent combination of experience and training will be considered

·         Experience and/or training in QuickBooks

·         Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Excel

·         2 – 5 years of relevant work experience – including supervisory experience

·         Experience in construction costing would be an asset

 

 

Status of position:

·         Permanent Full-time

·         Hours of Work: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM – Monday to Friday
