Divisional Research Analyst
Purpose of Position To conduct online research of companies, foundations and individuals, providing Division I staff and volunteers who are responsible for fund development strategies, with information to pursue new or increased giving to the organization. Job Responsibilities Prospect Research and Analysis: - Working with Division Fundraising Vice President (DFVP) and Regional Chief Development Officers (CDOs), prioritize key markets for corporate and individual research profiling. - Consult with Regional CDOs to determine feasibility of research requests and special projects. - Conduct detailed financial and biographical research on individuals, corporations and foundations using online databases, in-house files and other reference sources. o Analyze, interpret and evaluate biographical, business, personal and financial information for current and prospective donors. - Prepare clear and concise reports, profiles, and briefing materials synthesizing information about donors and prospects to be used by fund development account managers, major gifts staff, and other senior officers in high potential markets throughout Division I. - Assist in the development, organization and implementation of various projects to proactively locate high potential prospects in Division I, including qualification and determination of potential gift capacity. - Possess and maintain high level of understanding of donor database. - Keep abreast of prospect information, working with high potential Chapters in identifying local and regional business developments and economic trends o Proactively monitor local, national and business news and events for individual, corporate and foundation prospects. - Provide input on system updates and reporting as needed. - Work to promote strategic goals of the American Red Cross. Information Maintenance: - Identify and evaluate information for storage in permanent prospect research files. - Utilize organization's electronic database and record keeping systems for information storage and retrieval. - Maintain electronic and hard copy files on each prospect/donor. - Safeguard the confidentiality of donor information at all times and adhere to ethical and confidentiality guidelines of both the organization and the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement (APRA). Minimum Qualifications: - 2-4 years of prospect research or related experience preferred. - 2-4 years of general department and/or office management experience. - Knowledge of current research technologies and information search techniques including online library sources, pay-subscription sources, public records and Internet search. - Extensive computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft office software. - Experience with fundraising donor databases, Raiser's Edge is preferred. - Excellent verbal and written community skills and database aptitude. - Ability to work tactfully and confidentially with sensitive information - Ability to work independently. - Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects. - Any combination of acceptable education and experience, which has provided the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfill the requirements of the position, may be considered. This position can be based out of Seattle, WA or Denver, CO or Portland, OR depending on where the successful candidate is located.
