DNS/UNIX Systems Engineer
Location: Sunnyvale, CA
Contract Length: 6 months (plus extensions)
Pay Rate: Depends on experience
Looking to add another DNS/Unix Systems Professional to our team.
Consultant will site in Sunnyvale, CA; and will also provide remote support to Atlanta and UK based servers.
The consultant will need to help with troubleshooting, problem diagnosis and resolution of the current DNS problems as well as manage the interactions associated with the inter-department IPAM (IP Address Management) deployment.
Environment includes:
Several thousand servers do not have host names assigned
HP SIM (HP Systems Insight Manager) thats being used for auto-discovery unsuccessfully
Systems are mis-configured
Responsibilities:
Creating VM images on ESXi and bringing them up as a configured name server (changing the IPs, hostname, config etc.)
Trouble-shooting, tweaking, knowing where the logs are and the like on *nix (i.e.Unix) servers
Scripting/extracting data so it can be loaded into either the IPAM appliance or a BIND zone (which is a day to responsibility)
Skills needed:
Unix Systems Engineering /Administration skills (expertise in RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux/CentOS preferred), automation, scripting, configuration management
BIND administration experience
Significant experience with Perl.
Hands on experience with firewalls, routers, switches
Presentation/documentation/Project management skills
Environment has high visibility and requires excellent communications and leadership skills to navigate successfully
