Solution Specialists are Solution-Focused Pre-Sales Technical Sales Resources targeted at opportunities. Solution Specialists (SSs) are Solution-focused and have deep expertise in Enterprise solution areas and their business drivers. Their focus is to help account Teams increase sales of Dell Enterprise Solutions by delivering technical expertise for strategic opportunities.

Server Specialist Hyper Scale

Data Center Performance and Efficiency discussions

Power Usage and Thermal discussions

Server Consolidation and Virtualization discussions

Workload Performance discussions

Enterprise Management / Deployment solution discussions

Application Support Strategy discussions around Microsoft Products

Enterprise Technology Trends / Business Impact discussions

RFP Strategy consultation and customer panel presentations. (no content generation)

Engagement Process:

Account Team contacts the appropriate Solutions Specialist via phone or email.

Please engage early and be flexible with your timeframes. You must supply the SFDC

opportunity number and include the SSs name in the opportunity.

SFDC opportunity number is required for ALL customer engagements of a SS.

SSs are required to qualify each engagement request. If the opportunity falls outside the normal scope of SS engagements, the SS will assist by directing the account team to the appropriate resource. Internal Sales personnel who identify a possible engagement should engage the Account Executive(if one is assigned to the account), who will be involved through the qualification process.

All Post sales requests will be re-directed to the appropriate avenue of support.

SS and account team define scope of engagement defining goals and objectives, obstacles and landmines for that opportunity. Customers should not be copied on internal correspondence.

Solution Specialist Responsibilities:

Each Solution Specialist is responsible for his or her discipline. All requests should begin with the Solutions Specialist. The SS owns the request within their discipline and will work with the customer (i.e. SS, SE, RSM, AE, etc) to set the proper expectations for the engagement request.

If an SS is contacted by a customer (i.e. SS, SE, RSM, AE, etc) from outside his or her territory, the SS will determine who the appropriate SS is, inform the customer who the appropriate SS is, and refer the customer to the appropriate SS.

If the SS cannot support a qualified engagement request, and the date/time cannot be adjusted, it is the SSs responsibility to work to find a replacement. The SS will exhaust every avenue to find support before declining an engagement.

The SS will respond to voicemails and emails within 8 business hours from the time they receive the message.

The SSs will only use Out of Office Assistant if they are on vacation, on personal time, or in training. The message will state when a response will be returned. If required, the name and phone number of a backup resource will be provided. Contacting the backup directly is the best method of getting assistance.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
Expert level professional, complete understanding of Dells product offerings.
Little manager contact.
Little coaching/mentoring required.
Expert knowledge of technical products, vendors, and families of technologies
Expert knowledge of product configurations
Strong oral and written communication skills to communicate with customers, support personnel, and management
7+ years of related technical experience.
5+ years of sales experience.
