BASIC FUNCTION:
Supervises and monitors all employees in the Drafting department. Responsible for scheduling of all designs and drawings to be completed by the Drafting department and ensures that all tasks are completed on time.
SPECIFICALLY, THE DRAFTING SUPERVISOR:
- Directly supervises employees in the Drafting department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Receives job folders from Engineering and Sales. Reviews entire folder for completeness and schedules completion dates and resources as required to meet the current drawing lead times.
- Provides direction and guidance on a daily basis to Drafters to ensure all tasks are completed on time.
- Makes any adjustments or changes to schedule and resources as necessary to meet all deadlines.
- Provides training and assistance to Drafters to ensure drawings are produced in accordance with the Engineering and Drafting standards and practices.
- Completes a thorough check of drawings as needed before forwarding to Engineering for review and approval.
- Completes designs of products using 3D modeling software (Solid Edge). Verifies dimension of parts, materials to be used, relation of one part to another, and relation of various part to whole structure or project.
- Prepares reports and attends Drafting meetings with Engineering as needed throughout each week to review schedules and resolve resources and/or scheduling issues.
- Provides a report to the Engineering Manager on a daily basis listing the drawings and ECNs completed each day.
- Receives ECN requests from Engineering, Sales and Manufacturing and schedules completion of ECNs based on priority and possible impact to Production.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent four year undergraduate degree in a technical field from an accredited University; and five or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience/training with Solid Edge or other similar 3D modeling software, AUTOCAD, Microsoft Office and MS DOS.
