Chevron's Energy Technology Company (ETC) is accepting online applications for the position of Drilling Engineer-Performance Optimization. that will be located in Houston, Texas.

Overview:
The position will provide specialist technical support to Chevron's Global Business Units (BU's) in the area of downhole performance optimization, primarily using the Chevron in-house Maxdrill process. This will involve deploying and giving training for Maxdrill to several BU's while completing in-house specific optimization projects for others . Additionally the incumbent will identify, assess and execute Technology Development and Strategic Research programs to further enhance Performance Drilling and provide ongoing Maxdrill support to the Company's domestic and international business units.

Position Details:
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Utilizing Maxdrill drilling optimization processes to develop project specific drilling performance improvement recommendations to Chevron's global business units.
  • Coach business unit personnel in the use of the Maxdrill concepts and processes.
  • Keep abreast of the latest general drilling and specific performance drilling technologies with view to recommending to various SBU's.
  • Develop, document, and share best practices in the application of Maxdrill.
  • Evaluate new software versions or products. Test functionality and acceptability of new software applications/releases with respect to improving the Maxdrill processes.
  • Participate in the drilling/completion networks to share solutions and best practices.
  • Provide mentoring to new hires on best practices, interpretation and analysis of drilling data.

    Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of appropriate experience, with an emphasis on downhole drilling performance, bit designs, BHA analysis, drive systems and overall factors affecting performance.
  • Sound skills in Drilling Engineering and Well Design
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, personal initiative and adaptability whilst being a team player who can provide a customer focus
  • Independent, self motivated person who seeks out technical service opportunities. Strong networking capabilities, and a desire to impact the future performance of drilling engineering and operations..
  • Proven ability to work professionally and ethically when dealing with service-suppliers' personnel.
  • Ability to coach and teach to diverse cultures throughout CVX global drilling operations.
