Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Drilling Technologist - Real-time Drilling Optimization Center located in Houston, Texas.
Overview:
Provides day-to-day technical support in Houston-based Real-time Drilling Optimization Center (RDOC). Ensures RDOC staff has ready access to quality real-time data for monitoring, management, and analysis of global DC operations. Supports RDOC staff in use of DC applications (real-time smart algorithms, EDT applications, Wellview) and develops specifications for additional tools/applications that add value to RDOC. Provides interface between RDOC staff and Technical Computing support personnel for resolution of IT issues, processing of service tickets, and development of new applications. Assists RDOC staff in capturing and managing Lessons Learned and Best Practices. Position will work 14/14 rotating schedule in Houston-based Real-time Drilling Optimization Center (RDOC).
Position Details:
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Scheduling and coordination of third party data services
Implementation of data quality assurance processes and metrics reporting
Report generation and distribution processes
Ensuring compliance with Chevron required standards including implementation of Chevron WITSML Testing and certification of new real-time data service offerings from internal or external providers
Assisting the RDOC Operations Engineers with data extraction, mining, and analysis
Support of RDOC real-time applications (e.g. smart agents washout warning, MSE calculation, Pronova etc.)
WellView functional user support such as data entry, standalone license issuance, Engineer Handbook Updates, and data queries
Maintenance of drilling technical models (e.g Hydraulics, Torque Drag )
Real time data viewer functional support for DC and geoscience users such as configuring the viewer to meet user requirements.
Development of specifications for additional tools/applications required to support drilling applications
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 5 years experience in an IT environment preferably supporting a Drilling and Completions organization.
Understanding of Technical Computing infrastructure and the support groups responsible for maintaining uptime will allow for faster resolution of any technical issues with applications that may be impacting operations.
Ability to build relationships and communicate well to all stakeholders globally.
Must be able to independently prioritize and manage multiple support responsibilities and tasks in a complex multi-user environment.
Ability to work in a multi-functional team environment.
Share information and collaborate with technical partners.
User Support Application Troubleshooting skills - ITSM, newscale, Remedy.
Preferred Qualifications:
2 year technical degree
Previous involvement with DC data systems (DISWIN, Wellview, DIMS) and/or applications (Wellplan, Compass, Stresscheck)
Experience with SWCPDEP, RUMS, MOC, Wellview, VBWO
Relocation Options:
Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters.
