Driver

Under general supervision, the Driver- Shredding Specialist is responsible for driving and operating a company mobile shred vehicle.  He/ she will be responsible for using computers and software to capture the customer’s service details, prepare daily paperwork and route journals.  The Shredding Specialist will also complete pre- and post- service checklists.  Additionally, he/ she will assess the daily maintenance for the mobile shred vehicle so that it functions efficiently.

This Shredding Specialist interacts with the Company’s customers on a regular ongoing basis.  To be successful in this role requires accountability, professional demeanor, courtesy, attention to detail and timely customer service.  It also requires strong written and oral communication skills, with customers, co-workers, and managers.

Individuals holding this position must follow Company policies, procedures and adhere to these job standards, as well as legal requirements.  The Shredding Specialist performs his/ her duties so that each customer is serviced according to all security and safety processes and procedures.    

 

 Areas of Responsibility:

·     Drive and operate a company mobile shred vehicle, using safe and efficient driving and operating skills.

·     Demonstrate strong customer service skills; communicate with customers in a professional manner.

·     Communicate with supervisor in a timely manner all information regarding customer changes, updates, and service issues.

·     Follow all security and safety policies and procedures.

·     Properly complete all paperwork on a daily basis, including route journals, pre/ post checklists, and customer service tickets, with an emphasis on accuracy and detail.

·     Perform daily and weekly vehicle inspections, and provide information to the supervisor regarding vehicle maintenance issues.

·     Complete special projects and miscellaneous tasks as directed by the District or General Manager.

·     Demonstrate the ability to work as a team member and independently.

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:

The Shredding Specialist must:

·     Be able to operate manual and automatic transmission vehicles.

·     Have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.  A Class B CDL is preferred, but must be willing to obtain.

·     Pass a pre-employment, physical and a background check. As well as pre-employment and random drug screening.

·     Complete and process paperwork accurately with attention to detail.  Be computer proficient.

·     Be able to lift up to 75 lbs.

·     Pushing/Pulling: The Shredding Specialist must be able to tolerate occasional periods of exerting force upon or against an object to move it away from his/ her body. Frequency: Occasionally; Duration: 5-10 min. per stop; Work Performed: Pushing 2- and 4 wheeled bins/carts; Weight Range: 25-350 lbs. (average weight: 170 lbs.).

·     Be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.  This includes the ability to step into and out of the vehicle cab at least 10 times daily.

·         2 years route transportation experience in the customer service industry is preferred.
