GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

This position is responsible for providing direct instructional and support services to children with disabilities or delays ages birth to three and their families.  An Early Intervention Specialist is also responsible for facilitating the initial intake for families and participating in outreach in the community.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

·         Provide developmental services within a consultative model to children with disabilities and/or developmental delays by teaching families and care-givers appropriate strategies to help the child participate in their natural environment. (50%)

·         Perform screenings and assessments to determine eligibility based on ECI / Brighton policies and procedures. Participate in the development of IFSP and assist family in developing outcomes and identifying needs within their daily routines. (15%)

·         Assist in linking families to outside resources and services. (5%)

·         Compile, maintain and file all records and other documents as required. (20%)

 

OTHER FUNCTIONS

·         Participate in monthly staffings. (3%)

·         Other duties to support the delivery and quality of services that are provided to Brighton families. (2%)

 

WORK EXPERIENCE

·         Preferred:  Prior experience in ECI, Special Education, Early Childhood Education, or a family-centered service organization.

 

  

EDUCATION

·         Required:  Bachelors level and licensed or fully qualified in a field related to Early Childhood Intervention.  A person with a Bachelor degree may complete the ECI Competency Demonstration System to become a fully qualified professional. Bi-Lingual in Spanish Required.
