OnPoint Analytics, in the San Francisco Bay Area (Emeryville), provides a broad range of economic, financial, and statistical consulting services to parties involved in high-stakes legal proceedings and business disputes. We specialize in matters involving anti-trust, intellectual property, mergers acquisitions, risk valuation, class certification, pharmaceutical, agricultural and food industries, options and other traded contracts, and complex damage estimation.
Position Available
A position as an Economist is available immediately. Hours are varied based on workflow and can fluctuate during busy periods. This is a temporary hourly position expected to continue through August 16, 2012.
Responsibilities
The key responsibilities of this position include:
- Identifying key economic and financial issues and developing relevant analytic frameworks
- Designing and building financial and quantitative models
- Applying statistical and econometric methods to economic and financial data
- Collecting market, industry, company, demographic and other information
- Reviewing, summarizing and analyzing industry trends
- Coding software routines to implement complex analyses
- Graphing data and outputs
- Preparing memos, expert reports, trial exhibits and other presentation materials
- Presenting results in a clear and articulate manner for a lay audience
- Helping expert witnesses prepare to deliver testimony
The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. or completion of Ph.D. coursework in Economics. Professional and academic experience should provide a solid foundation in:
- Mathematical quantitative methods
- Economics
- Statistics
- Econometrics
- Industrial organization antitrust (not required but strongly preferred)
Extensive experience using Stata or SAS is required. Candidates must be detail-oriented, extremely careful, have the ability to think analytically and critically, and have excellent oral and written communications skills. We frequently work under tight time deadlines, so a sense of humor and high energy level are important attributes.
