- Reporting to the Economics and Capital Markets department
Responsibilities
- Conduct economic and political analysis research on the US and identifying the implications of the macro analysis for the global economic and financial market outlook
- Monitoring economic and financial market trends in the US, including developing and maintaining a standard chart pack and/or database for the US
- Preparing and presenting research reports to the department and to senior management
- Liaising with external consultants, economists as well engaging senior policymakers in the US
- Keeping abreast of the latest academic work in Economics/Finance and Portfolio Management and translating them into useable strategies
Requirements
- Good honors degree preferably in Business, Economics, Finance and/or Statistics from a reputable University with at least 5 to 8 years of relevant working experience in formulating investment strategies for fixed income, equities and currencies, or in economics/policy research for an established investment organization
- Keen interest in economics and financial markets’ research
- Strong analytical abilities, sound economic judgement, be able to provide independent viewpoints and forecasts and ability to anticipate key issues that are important in driving the economic and financial market outlook
- Knowledge of economic and financial databases like Datastream and Factset will be an advantage
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills
