EDI Designer (X12/EDIFACT)
Our client, a major electronic commerce company, located in NYC, New York, is seeking a Product Designer who can effectively work on virtual teams in the definition, and design of new applications and enhancements to the client's suite as well as support the implementation and deployment phases of these new products.
The product suite is delivered to customers and partners within a Software as a Service (SaaS) environment, therefore all designs must consider the total community of partners and clients including importers, exporters, on-line business to business communities, financial institutions, freight consolidators and forwarders as well as inspection services firms. These relationships are fundamental to the success of client's business model.
Responsibilities:
- Provide subject matter expertise in areas including EDI, XML, and system integration to the Product Design Team on core system enhancements
- Research industry XML and EDI best practices and design updates to the messaging API
- Act as a business design resource for the development of user-facing middleware tools
- Define business requirements and their technical solutions for new or enhanced applications within the client's suite
- Document messaging API and middleware tools including user guides, data format specifications, and best practices
- Coordination and support of other documentation including business process procedures, release notes, training documentation, help text, and Quality Assurance testing scenarios and scripts
- Provide knowledge transfer training sessions to key shareholder groups: Designers, Implementers and Support teams
- Establish and manage relationships with key shareholders ensuring the successful design implementation and deployment of the client's product suite
- Coordinate extensively with the Development and Quality Assurance Testing teams to ensure that product enhancements meet expectations
Ideal candidates will possess the following background and experience:
- 5+ years of software application design experience including writing product specifications
- Extensive experience in messaging design using known business messaging standards including EDI (X12 and EDIFACT) and XML
- Working knowledge of software design as an (SaaS) Software as a Service
- Experience in the footwear, apparel, and retailer (order-to-invoice and shipping cycles) is a plus
- Agile Methodology experience will be a plus
