EDI Project Manager

Location – NYC

Duration – 6 months

 

The Technical Project Manager is accountable for managing and coordinating technical management activities for our EDI Gateway/5010 project.  This person will be responsible for maintaining and tracking project schedules, liaising between the development, QA and User staff and for resolving or escalating issues.

 

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Provide hands-on project management functions, and engage project leadership and key stakeholders through all project phases. Facilitate project meetings, provide up-to-date and candid status updates, as well as ensure visibility and availability of project information.  This includes but is not limited to:

·         Coordinate detailed QA test and user test tracking from defect triage through deployment and documentation updates

·         Monitor and control project scope and ensure proper change control procedures are followed on all change requests

·         Identify, assess and monitor risks and make mitigation strategy recommendations

·         Work with IT leadership, EPMO and Functional Leads to maintain an up-to-date integrated project plan

·         Identify and manage critical project resources

·         Maintain up-to-date project documentation and comply with Clients Project Management standards and policies

·         Identify, verify and maintain project schedules. Track technical team progress and reforecast timelines

·         Interface with IT leadership to remove barriers that slow or prevent the successful delivery of the projects scope and objectives for the technical team

·         Work with the Business Analysts on identifying changes to the BRDs and TRDs

·         The Technical Project Manager must be able to work effectively with minimal supervision and be able to make data-driven decisions and to guide the project through completion

·         PM will work closely with Business leads and IT leaders in delivering the project on time and on budget

·         The Technical PM must have excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills. Be able to negotiate and facilitate discussions, at all levels of the organization

·         The position will report to the EDI Applications Technical Project Manager and EDI Applications Functional owner

·         There will be no direct reports initially but may supervise up to 2 project members later in the project

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

 

·         Ability and experience in medium-sized projects that include high-risk Information Technology (IT) projects with minimal supervision

·         Highly organized and excellent time management skills as well as the ability and experience for developing and maintaining comprehensive, integrated and realistic project plans

·         Ability to assess and monitor project risk and developing mitigation strategy recommendations

·         Strong understanding of project related business case development and cost benefit analysis.  Experience in meeting tight deadlines with limited resources

·         Possess strong oral and written communication skills, excellent problem solving and negotiation capability, as well as strong interpersonal, leadership and team building ability

·         Ability to facilitate project meetings and joint planning sessions with both the Business areas, EPMO, QA and IT

·         Working knowledge of healthcare operations, products and services, as well as familiarity and understanding of healthcare related issues

·         Expert-level knowledge of project management principles, practices, techniques and tools in accordance with PMI (Project Management Institute) standards

·         Working knowledge and familiarity with all or most of the following: IT operations  and  Infrastructure, systems engineering principles, Mainframe and Distributed systems, systems integration, Web services / eBusiness, and Application Development

·         Understanding of project and software development life cycle processes including requirements gathering, analysis, design and testing methodologies

·         Good understanding of project life cycle and good understanding of Integration projects using middleware products such as BizTalk, SeeBeyond, etc.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

·         Bachelor’s Degree, Masters preferred

·         Minimum 7 years professional business experience in the Health Insurance industry preferably with exposure to HIPAA EDI (837, 835, 270/271, 276/277, etc.)

·         Minimum 5 years’ experience managing medium size and complex Information Technology and/or Healthcare projects

·         Minimum 3 years supervisory experience of medium-sized teams (8+ team members) specifically supervising professional and technical staff

·         Project Management Institute (PMI) PMP Certification is a plus

·         Highly proficient in utilizing Microsoft Project to develop deliverable-oriented work breakdown structures (WBS), and tracking project progress and interdependencies

·         Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, specifically MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio
