Editor, Rigzone Europe recruitment

Essential Functions:

On a daily basis, aggregate and post news about the oil and gas industry originating in assigned territory to the Rigzone.com web site
Generate ideas and write stories related to the oil and gas industry in assigned territory
Develop sources throughout the oil and gas industry
Work with [INVALID-WORD]rs in region to solicit relevant content for Rigzone.com
Proof read and copy edit articles by freelance writers and perform basic quality-control checks on postings to the website
Select primary/feature article for daily newsletter and provide graphics personnel with relevant links and other information
Write articles about breaking industry news as well as occasional feature-length articles discussing key and emerging industry topics in Europe
Monitor content in competing publications as well as from other trade and news media outlets as they relate to the European energy industry
Build and maintain relationships with departments that support the product line (including sales, marketing, graphics, jobs, and technology)
Serve as point of contact for editorial inquiries from public relations and marketing communications practitioners, newsletter subscribers, and the general public in Europe
Promote Rigzone.com and associated products at industry events in region.
Provide industry analysis and viewpoint to media outlets as a way of promoting industry expertise
Reply to user e-mails and comments

Additional Responsibilities:

Provide editorial assistance as needed to colleagues affiliated with the Rigzone web site.
Develop and implement broader content initiatives in support of editorial and user engagement
Support rig data collection efforts for data services on an ad hoc basis
Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Degree in journalism, engineering or related field
Work experience in energy industry highly desirable
Strong reporter and editor with minimum 5 years experience, coverage of energy industry preferred
Excellent communications skills are essential, including interviewing, writing, editing and reporting
Well –rounded understanding of energy industry and commodity markets
Experience with blogs and other areas of online publishing
Experience with website management and production tools such as blogging services and Photoshop
Proven ability to communicate complex issues to a general audience and write for traditional, new, and social media
Must be detail-oriented, organized, self-motivated, and able to operate effectively under pressure
Collaborative and project management skills
Experience hiring and managing freelance writers a plus.
