EDITORIAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

Southwestern Law School offers an excellent career opportunity for an Editorial and administrative Assistant to work with the Assistant Dean for Interdisciplinary Programs. Primary duties include assisting with the administration, management, and editing of the Journal of Legal Education, a quarterly publication, and providing administrative support for Southwestern’s interdisciplinary academic programs. The ideal candidate will be a versatile self-starter capable of working with minimal supervision and able to coordinate and manage multiple assignments and projects successfully. Strong written language skills are a must.

Editorial responsibilities for the Journal of Legal Education include but are not limited to:

Administrative responsibilities for the Assistant Dean for Interdisciplinary Programs include but are not limited to: scheduling and preparing for meetings and campus events; preparing correspondence; and serving as a point of contact for Southwestern students and prospective applicants to the JD/MBA program with the Drucker School of Management and the Certificate Program with the Pardee RAND Graduate School.

Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English or related field with one year experience in student, academic or administrative services. The successful candidate will possess excellent verbal/written communication skills; strong organizational and planning abilities; excellent interpersonal skills; the ability to work well independently and as a member of a team; good judgment and accuracy. Proficiency in computer programs such as MS Word, Excel, and Outlook required along with experience with InDesign, Photoshop or similar desktop publishing programs.
