The School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) is the intellectual core of the University. Its 26 academic departments are home to leading faculty in the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. Research activity is also supported by 23 School-based centers and 5 inter-school institutes. The College of Arts and Sciences enrolls 6,400 undergraduates studying for the degree of Bachelor of Arts. Duties:

As directed by the Editor and Assistant Editor, provide administrative support for peer review of manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Chemical Physics (JCP), a publication of the American Institute of Physics (AIP). Utilize the web-based PeerX-Press (PXP) to track each manuscript throughout the entire peer-review and editorial process and provide user support. Interact with editors, reviewers, authors and AIP staff, concerning all aspects of daily peer review activities. Adhere to strict journal policy in daily operations.

 

Bachelor's Degree, chemistry/physics background helpful and 1 year to 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Good PC skills are mandatory, including proficiency in web-based interfaces (e.g. completion and submission of HTML forms, web-searching, email applications, Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat). Must demonstrate ability to adhere to strict deadlines. Excellent command of English and proofreading skills are essential. Good communication skills and interpersonal skills are essential, including pleasant and professional telephone contact with editors, reviewers, and authors located world-wide. Must be able to work under pressure, be detail oriented and possess good organizational skills. Provide user support to participants in the peer review process by telephone or email. Must be able to accommodate multiple project deadlines. Professional businesslike manner is essential; must demonstrate dedication to outstanding customer service and adherence to confidentially. Position contingent upon funding.
