Working Title: University Business Liaison

Degree and area of specialization: Bachelor's degree required; background in life sciences, engineering and/or computer science preferred.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience: More than five years of experience required, experience in the private sector preferred; experience in relationship management preferred; an understanding of UW-Madison is beneficial.

Principal duties:
Reporting to the Managing Director of the Office of Corporate Relations and with independence of action, the primary role of this position is to build new and improve existing relationships between UW-Madison and private-sector companies by helping them access campus resources such as faculty expertise, student career service offices, industrial consortia, professional development programs and technology transfer opportunities. In doing so, the person in the position will often be meeting with directors and executives of private-sector companies both within and outside the State of Wisconsin.

Consistent with campus and affiliated organizations' objectives, the person in this position will help to identify and independently manage a portfolio of target companies for contact and interaction.The person will work closely with faculty and staff and, where appropriate, consult with economic development representatives, trade groups and associations with the goal of increasing the quantity and quality of UW-business partnerships and collaborations.

The person in this position will conduct company and industry research, and analyze andsummarize the target company's portfolio, market share, recent initiatives and future directions, inorder to better understand which UW-Madison resources would be appropriate to present to thecompany. The person will also utilize a wide mix of UW-Madison and other databases to measureexisting campus and affiliate relationships (industrial sponsored research, gifts and contracts,intern/graduate/alumni placement, consortia membership, etc.). On occasion, the person in thisposition will also help to plan, coordinate, and evaluate new and existing business outreach events and programs.

Salary: Minimum $53,249 annual depending on qualifications.
