EHS INDUSTRIAL HYGIENIST Job in Los Angeles, California US


Neutrogena Corporation is seeking an EHS Industrial Hygienist for our Los Angeles location.

Neutrogena Corporation develops, manufactures and markets premium skin and hair care products sold worldwide and recommended by medical professionals. The product line includes bar and liquid cleansers, shampoo, hand cream, body l otion, facial moisturizers, sun protection and cosmetics, as well as other hair and skin care products recommended, used and prescribed by dermatologists.
The Industrial Hygienist provides technical expertise in the subject areas of employee injury and illness prevention, including regulatory compliance with OSHA standards and Johnson Johnson Worldwide EHS Standards related to industrial hygiene and personnel safety.

The Industrial Hygienist coordinates the site industrial hygiene program. Evaluates employee exposures to various agents including chemical and physical hazards. Performs basic characterization, qualitative risk assessment and quantitative risk assessment. Maintains employee exposure records. Provides employee notification of air sampling results. Integrates JJ risk-based exposure assessment process (RBEAP) into site industrial hygiene program, including sample planning. Maintains appropriate air sampling media. Maintains air sampling equipment. As needed, provides training and oversight to other individuals collecting industrial hygiene data. Makes recommendations to site management for exposure controls.

The Industrial Hygienist coordinates the site respiratory protection program. Maintains the written program, which includes multiple documents (e.g., procedures). Conducts training for new hires and for periodic refresher. Conducts annual fit testing campaign. Maintains inventory of spare parts for various respirator systems. Provides technical support to capital projects related to respiratory protection. Serves as the point of contact for contract inspectors of self-contained breathing apparatus.

The Industrial Hygienist coordinates efforts for the site hearing conservation program. Performs sound level meter survey. Performs personal dosimetry. Maintains noise measuring equipment. Evaluates results of noise measurements. Makes recommendations to site management for noise control. Participates in the management of the site confined space program. Evaluates new and/or modified spaces for applicability. Performs annual site inventory. Participates in the development of the confined space-specific isolation procedures. Provides confined space related training (e.g., as part of safe work permitting process). Conducts annual audit of completed permits. This individual also has responsibility for the site hazard communication program. Maintains a written hazard communication document and a list of hazardous chemicals. Maintains material safety data sheets (MSDS) via electronic inventory. Collaborates with other internal departments to develop product labels, including international requirements.
The Industrial Hygienist is the primary site interface with Global Health Services to insure all affected personnel receive the appropriate medical surveillance. Performs periodic analysis of inclusion criteria. Supports many site programs including the site ergonomic program, hot work program (including training and audit), emergency response program, powered industrial vehicle (e.g., forklift) program, machine safety program, fall protection program, which includes both "slips, trips, and falls," plus fall from heights. Participates on audits. Performs inspections of site to identify and correct any deficiencies related to employee health or safety (e.g., housekeeping). Participates in Johnson Johnson's MAARS process as related to industrial hygiene and personnel safety. Perform annual self assessments for health and safety related chapters. Participates on triennial joint assessment.

Participate on regional and global project teams with peers.
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required.
This individual must will willing and able to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, qualify for respiratory protective equipment use, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste, and smell.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene or a related area of study and at least 7 years of industrial hygiene or related experience is required. A Certified Industrial Hygienist certification is required. Current knowledge of applicable government environmental and safety regulations (EPA OSHA), and company policies is preferred.
