EHS Officer Job in Sligo Ireland
Hartley People are currently recruiting an EHS Offer on behalf of our client based in Sligo.
Remuneration: €45K to €55K depending on experience

The Person:
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Health and Safety Legislation, Codes of Practice and relevant guidelines
- Ability to work effectively in a pressurised environment, exercising good judgement and making timely and well informed decisions
- Experience in a medical device or pharmaceutical environment
- An ability to offer solutions to problems and think creatively
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan and prioritise workload and ability to work to deadlines
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written, to individuals and groups
- Ability to develop, maintain and use collaborative relationships in order to encourage and support communication, teamwork and the achievement of departmental objectives
- Results orientated demonstrating initiative and resourcefulness to achieve set goals and objectives with a continuous strive for excellence
The Role:
- Promoting a positive health and safety behavioural based culture within the organisation, and assisting in the development of safer and healthier ways of working
- Conducting regular health and safety inspections of departments, systems, procedures and practices to ensure compliance with current regulations
- Ensuring that all risk assessments are kept up to date and that the Company Health Safety Statements are reviewed annually
- Carrying out occupational exposure assessments to ensure that personal protective equipment are appropriate to the hazards present according to the regulations
- Carrying out chemical and biological risk assessments on all process materials used within the plant, ensuring that suitable corrective actions are implemented where necessary
- Advising and assisting Supervisors in the investigation of accidents and unsafe working conditions, study possible causes, and recommend remedial action in accordance with regulations
- Providing advice to Supervisors thus ensuring that their personnel use the appropriate PPE and that Supervisors are kept informed of any changes made regarding PPE
- Assisting with the monitoring of rehabilitation of workers after accidents or injuries, and ensuring satisfactory return to work
- Conducting industrial hygiene monitoring of exposure of employees to hazards such as noise levels, vapours, active pharmaceutical ingredients etc
- Conducting training sessions for management, supervisors and workers on environmental, health and safety practices and legislation
- Co-ordinating emergency procedures, fire drills and first aid crews
- Maintaining Material Safety Data Sheet databases for all materials on site and reviewing corporate MSDS’ for Stiefel products
- Assisting in the compilation, collation and review of information regarding the REACH regulations to ensure that the REACH risks to the Company are mitigated
