Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer
Reporting to: Senior Engineer/Principal Engineer
Main Purpose of Job:
Proactively working as part of our team to engage fully with our Clients and other stakeholders, you will be responsible for the design of building services on a range of projects. Whilst you will be capable of working with some supervision, you will work collaboratively with all levels within our team contributing to the overall project success and our staff development. You will provide support to our senior management team and regularly report on progress. You will be capable of working collaboratively within a team of engineers and technicians delivering major projects successfully.
Scope of Job:
You will liaise with senior engineers and principal engineers in your team to understand the building services strategy to be designed for a particular project. You will assist in the preparation of design reports, feasibility studies, specifications and design drawings.
You will liaise with: Architects, quantity surveyors, clients, professionals, construction engineers, manufacturers, suppliers, contractors or installers concerning all areas relevant to our project appointment.
You will take a role in completing design activities to a defined programme and with limited assistance using our in-house systems.
Dimensions Limits of Authority:
Whilst capable of working with limited supervision you will work collaboratively with our senior team members identifying any complex sensitive matters, or design situations outside of your level of knowledge such that a positive outcome is achieved. You will provide support to all team members and supervise more junior team members where appropriate.
Duties and Key Responsibilities:
- Experience in the use of Autocad (E)
- Experience in the use of Revit (D)
- Experience in the use of Word, Excel, Powepoint. (E)
- Experience in the use of NBS Specification software (D)
- Experience in the use of lighting design packages such as Dilux and Relux (D)
- Experience in the use of cable selection packages such as Amtech. (D)
- Ability to make project presentations to upper management.(D)
- Ability to coordinate with a variety of clientele.(E)
- Ability to accomplish design and construction changes during progress of the construction contract (D)
- Contribute to our culture of active staff mentoring (D)
- Ability to proactively work and contribute as part of a large team (E)
Essential/Desirable Qualifications:
- Degree educated, or equivalent, in a relevant course (D)
- MEng or MSc qualified (D)
- Incorporated Engineer with significant appropriate experience (E)
- Preferably Chartered, if not must be working towards chartership (D)

- Flexible attitude, in an environment with frequently changing deadlines
- Can be relied on to meet deadlines
- Committed to both their work and personal development, with a willingness to widen their experience.
