Electrical Designer Job in Houston 77034, Texas US
Summary
Perform routine design assignments, which require knowledge and skill in basic design techniques and procedures, under close supervision. Drafting will comprise a large portion of job responsibility. Thorough knowledge of CADD systems (AutoCAD and Microstation) and standards will be required.
Education / Experience
Extensive experience in drafting disciplines with a background in high and extra high voltage electrical substation design.
Qualifications
Possess skills in the following areas:
* Word processing, spread sheet, and e-mail software
* Mathematics, including algebra and basic trigonometry
* Extensive knowledge of various CADD programs
* Basic electrical AC/DC fundamentals
* Basic knowledge of the major components of a substation
* Basic oral and written communications
* Basic knowledge of the types of drawings required to construct a high and extra high voltage electrical substation
* Working in a team environment
* Communicating effectively with co-workers
Duties Responsibilities
Employee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions:
* Produce new drawings from examples of previous projects and/or standards with some supervision
* Research information in catalogues, specifications, corporate standards, or other reference material
* Calculate cable lengths, conduit fill or other basic tasks
* Learn and properly use the document management system
* Learn and apply corporate standard engineering practices
* Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of his/her work
* Bring potential project-related problems and possible solutions to the attention of the responsible party
* Travel out of town for short periods of time as required by projects and assignments
* Other duties as required
