3rd Generation Engineering (3rd GEN) is a fully-staffed Electrical, Instrumentation, Controls, and Application Engineering Services (AES) consulting engineering firm serving our industrial, oil and gas, and water/wastewater clients from our office in Dallas, Texas. 3rd GEN, founded and incorporated in 2008, is a privately-owned corporation that provides high quality, timely, and cost-effective engineering services to our clients in the Southwestern United States.

 

Electrical Engineer III

 

In this hands-on engineering role, you will independently evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgment in making adaptations and modifications. You will also receive instructions on specific assignment objectives, complex features and possible solutions. May supervise or coordinate the work of Drafters and Technicians.

 

General Responsibilities:

·         Develop broad knowledge and skills in a specific practice area.

·         Evaluate, select and apply standard techniques, procedures and criteria to perform a task or sequence of tasks for conventional projects with few complex features.

·         Collaboratively use judgment to determine adaptations in methods for non-routine aspects of assignments.

·         Work on small projects or portions of larger projects.

 

Technical Responsibilities:

·         Perform moderate design tasks.

·         Prepare portions of project documents.

·         Edit specifications.

·         Perform research and investigations.

 

Managerial Responsibilities:

·         Assign tasks to and coordinate work with entry-level Engineers, Technicians or Administrative staff.

·         Assist in determining schedule and budget requirements.

 

Qualifications:

·         3+ years of professional experience in electrical engineering or similar area.

·         Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program.

·         Completion of SKM PTW 101 102 training courses.

·         Completion of SKM PTW 201 202 training courses preferred.

·         Engineer in Training preferred.

·         Professional Engineer optional.

·         Member of professional practice organization preferred.

·         Member of local program or committee optional.

·         Experience utilizing AutoCAD software.

·         Experience with SKM Power Tools for Windows (SKM PTW).

·         Effective communication skills.
