The Electrical High Voltage Engineer is responsible for the overall operating condition and reliability of the electrical distribution system to ensure a smooth operation of the plant . The Engineer will also be responsible for the following:
Establishing and maintaining the preventive and predictive maintenance program on electrical distribution equipment and assets. This will involve coordinating efforts to monitor, test, and optimize the operation of the high voltage distribution network which includes the high voltage overhead distribution system (138 kv and 34.5 kv), co-gen generators, high voltage substations, transformers, switchgears, 4.16 kv starters, protection relays, emergency generators, motors, UPS and batteries.
Creating and maintaining electrical safety programs and procedures consistent with the NEC, NFPA, and OSHA standards.
Providing technical support and training to technicians
Leading troubleshooting efforts to correct problems in the system and resolving all electrical equipment reliability issues or malfunctions thru Reliability Centered Maintenance Programs.
Providing consultations on matters relating to safety, reliability, and the selection of equipment for end-of-life replacement, that are consistent with industry standards.
Required Skills
B.S. in Electrical Engineering
5 years or more, in electrical power business chemical plant experience preferred.
Experience with plant design and project engineering, or utilities a plus.
Creative, flexible, organized and technically connected
Mastery of the theory of operations of major equipment and a working knowledge of high voltage and medium voltage electrical distribution systems.
Knowledge of a variety of test equipment and test methods employed to test and troubleshoot electrical equipment.
Proficient with SAP maintenance and purchasing modules.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational and planning skills, facilitation skills, computer skills and the ability to achieve results through others.
Flexible, analytical and detailed oriented.
