Electrical Engineer

Our client is a recognized leader in the field of mine design, mine engineering, mineral process design, project management and mine construction.
They specialize in Process Plant Design, Metallurgical Process Engineering, Mining Project Management, Metallurgical Consulting - Pre-Feasibility and Feasibility Studies, Dense Media Separation, PGM Concentrators, Tailings Retreatment Plants, Diamond Processing Plants and Process Control Instrumentation Engineering.
They currently have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Engineer to be part of their dynamic, challenging working environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assume a Lead role in Electrical Engineering, on different projects.
- Perform and supervise preparation of cost estimates, project planning, scheduling and cost control functions.
- Produce electrical engineering classifications and facility designs including area classifications, single line diagrams, power system analysis, power distribution layouts, lighting designs, motor schematics, instrumentation wiring layouts, electrical heat tracing and grounding layouts.
- Assist in the coordination of the Electrical Design Teams activities in order to meet scheduled timeframes and Clients expectations
- Authorize electrical data sheets, technical specifications and technical bid evaluations.
- Participate in design reviews with other disciplines to review technical issues and provide input into constructability and operability.
- Initiate and execute Electrical power systems calculations and studies
- Prepare all documentation related to detailed equipment specifications, contract of procurement of major electrical equipment and construction document packages
- Coordinate startup, commissioning and maintenance activities
- Visit project sites/other design offices as required for project related activities
Requirements:
- You must have a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering with at least 3 years within a design and project environment.
- Superior knowledge of applicable Canadian and international codes/standards governing electrical design, equipment and construction
- strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Previous industry experience in mining or mineral processing
- Previous experience working on large capital projects in the minerals processing fields of coal, diamonds, gold, platinum and base metals
- Ability to supervise and lead a group of junior designers and engineers
- Registration as a P.Eng. Ontario would be an asset.
Compensation will be commensurate with experience and will fairly reflect the value brought to the organization.
