Description

Position Scope / Summary  

The Maintenance Technician position provides equipment repair support and assistance to the manufacturing department and general plant facility. This position is responsible for the upkeep of all equipment, HVAC and electrical systems and routine maintenance, utilizing the preventive maintenance schedule.

The position will also require the technician to install, move and disassemble machinery and equipment. 

Key Result Accountabilities  

Conduct preventive maintenance per the schedule for all equipment assigned, to reduce downtime and prevent failures.

Perform unscheduled servicing of equipment after a problem is discovered.

Install, move and disassemble machinery and equipment as necessary.

Maintain accurate records of maintenance issues on all equipment.

Follow the proper methods and procedures for the handling of non-hazardous waste in the plant and removal of waste from the plant.

Deal with outside contractors for routine maintenance items/service contracts when necessary.

Must complete training and demonstrate competency in the complete operation of facility systems: including waste liquid treatment plant; emergency back-up procedures; facility start-up; emergency action plans; and equipment operations.

Completing and maintaining proficiency with all required safety training and all corresponding safety training updates. Required to follow all company safety procedures and wear the proper Personal Protection Equipment.

Responding to emergency call-ins on a 24 hour basis and working on a rotational weekend shift.

Employ the strategies of 5S in order to maintain an efficient work area; clean, well ordered and maintaining the right types and amounts of spare parts.

Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications 

Minimum 3-5 years in a Maintenance Technician position at a manufacturing facility, responsible for maintaining equipment and systems.  Industry or product specific certifications preferred.

Electrical background, 2 year degree preferred, AC/DC drive and PLC knowledge required.

Able to install, troubleshoot and make repairs to electric power distribution and machine control wiring.

Install and maintain electrical wiring and equipment according to NEC codes and follow other regulatory regulations.

Understand schematics, ladder symbols and color coding.

Must have prior experience installing, moving and disassembling equipment and machinery.

Able to use all the tools necessary to conduct the work involved with maintaining Accellent’s equipment and building systems.

Must be PC literate (Microsoft Office Suite) specifically spreadsheets, and word processing. Knowledge of PC based Preventative Maintenance system.

Able to give and follow instructions, both written and verbal.

Effectively communicate with all levels of employees, as well as outside contractors.

Excellent organizational skills; able to manage multiple priorities with time constraints.

Will be required to wear respirator. Must meet OSHA requirements to receive fit to wear respirator certification.

Able to use ladders and high reach equipment as necessary.
