DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

 
 

Design, develop and implement test methods and test stands of actuation systems and gear boxes per customer requirements. Develop and create test procedures for the completion and qualification of production test. Plan and arrange schedules and equipment required for testing and evaluation of test specimen. The primary and product area is aircraft accessory gearing, actuation, and helicopter transmission and drive systems, as well as other geared system applications in the marine and industrial areas. The successful applicant will have strong people skills and leadership qualities, and be capable of leading a test team in the creation of hardware designs that meet and exceed customer expectations as well as meeting challenging manufacturability and cost goals. This person must be able to work effectively in a team environment and accept the role as mentor and leader of less experienced test personnel within the team. Proven technical innovation and effective project management skills are essential.

Aerospace engineering and operations technicians operate and maintain equipment used to test aircraft. New aircraft designs are subjected to years of testing before they are put into service. Technicians may calibrate test equipment, such as wind tunnels, and determine causes of equipment malfunctions. They may also program and run computer simulations that test new designs virtually. Using computer and communications systems, aerospace engineering and operations technicians often record and interpret test data.

Job Requirements:

LIST MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING EXPERIENCE NEEDED TO PERFORM THE JOB

BSME or equivalent with 10-20 years experience in the aircraft mechanical component/systems test fields. Experience in the direct design of test stands, rotating machinery, qualification testing, experience with computer-based engineering analysis tools and CAD systems are a must. Understanding of LabView is desirable.
