• Plant and utilities management.
• Provision of fuel and electricity.

• Analysis of a client’s utilities plant to determine ways of improving existing

performance.
• Design, procurement, installation, commissioning, and performance testing of
the new plant improvement programme.
• Funding of the plant improvement programme.
• Operation, maintenance, and repair of utilities plant over the long term;

  contract periods range from 5 years to as long as 25 years.

The solutions provided to clients are always tailored to suit their particular needs.

The range of utilities covered includes steam, hot water, compressed air, combined heat and power, chilled water, process gases, towns and process water, effluent etc. The scope of plant includes utilities generation (e.g. boilers producing steam) and distribution systems up to the point of use by the client.

 

OVERALL PURPOSE OF ROLE:  

Based at a static site in Alnwick, Northumberland, the role is based on Monday to Friday days.  Paid for 43 hours per week but working 40 hours per week, with 3 hours banked for weekend cover as and when directed by the employer 

 

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:
To operate, maintain and manage effectively, with minimum supervision new and existing lighting and emergency lighting installations, Portable Appliance Testing, UPS supplies, emergency generator checks, water purification units, site monitoring and recording of power consumption, minor building fabric repairs, Out of Hours Test Inspection BS7671 and subsequent repairs/remedial work to 17th Edition Standard.

 

To maintain and improve standards of health and safety, quality and good housekeeping and to report any short comings promptly.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

1.      Pro-actively demonstrate and work to the Company's values of Service Excellence, Customer Intimacy, Innovation and People Focus.

2.      Safely and efficiently install, maintain and repair plant and equipment within the portfolio.

3.      Carry out diagnostic and fault finding to plant and equipment within the portfolio.

4.      Carry out routine servicing and commissioning to plant and equipment within the portfolio.

5.      Take a proactive approach to customer liaison and ensure concerns are dealt with or relayed to line management promptly.

6.      Maintain plant, planned preventative maintenance (PPM), personal and vehicle records in accordance with company operating procedures.

7.      Identify areas for additional works within and outside of the specified contractual requirements and report these promptly to the Portfolio Manager with estimated material costs and labour requirements.

8.      Carry out duties in accordance with the Dalkia Health and Safety manual and Company Operating Procedures.

9.      Job holder may be required to carry out any other reasonable duties within their capabilities as deemed appropriate by the Portfolio. 


QUALIFICATIONS:
 

Full qualified Electrical Engineer

Installation/Inspection/Testing formal qualification (City Guilds 2391 Inspection Testing Qualification

17th Edition

Physically demanding role - must be able to cope with some heavy lifting (eg: of boiler equipment), working at heights and/or in confined spaces

Security Clearance  - Able to comply with any additional certification/security clearance required for specific contracts (eg: rail, government).
