Electrician
Description:
Electricians will perform highly skilled maintenance, installation, repair and troubleshooting work involved with electrical distribution systems. Electrical work may be performed in a number of areas including heating, refrigeration, motors, fire alarms, and generator equipment. Work involves technical application of electrical principles. Performs other related tasks as required.
Responsibilities:
- Install, service and repair lighting fixtures, electrical panels, outlets and wiring.
- Operate power hand tools and other specialized electrical equipment.
- Install, repair and serv1cespecialized electrical equipment and machinery.
- Construct and maintain serv1ceequipment.
- Read electrical circuit diagrams.
- Requisition material and supplies from stockroom; call vendors to discuss needs for parts and supplies, and recommend purchases and suppliers.
- Transfer primary power from one power source to another.
- Install conductors, splices cable, build terminations and do necessary hook-up for primary power lines.
- Set poles, string overhead lines and do overhead line maintenance.
- Lay underground conduit for electrical lines and install low voltage electric lines and conduits for telephone systems.
- May do other trades work incidental to electrical work.
- Supervise other regular employees during a minor portion of the employee's work time; duties include assigning and reviewing work.
Skills:
Knowledge of electrical theory and methods, materials, tools, equipment and systems used in the electrical trade; thorough knowledge of NEC 2008 and regulations pertainingto the electrical trade; inspection of, identification, and knowledge of all electrical distribution systems (24-12K volts); methods and practices followed in the maintenance of tools, machinery, and equipment; safety precautions to be observed in the maintenance and installation of electronic and mechanical equipment.
Qualifications:
Four years as a licensed, journeyman-level wireman in a commercial, industrial, or facilities operations setting. Possess a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record. Ability to complete the following training as required: forklift operation certification; lock out tag out, fall arrest, confined space, MSDS, asbestos and lead identification, ladder safety, emergency evacuation, OSHA and respirator training. Perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting equipment (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing or walking. Safely use manual tools and power equipment common in the construction trades. Handle hazardous materials safely and tolerate exposure to electrical and other environmental hazards.
Master Electrician
Description:
Must be able to read and work with schematics, plan work orders and write requisitions. Work independently with minimum supervision. Have a good working knowledge of all current NEC equipment and their application, must be able to utilize a personal computer to handle shop-related paperwork, be able to plan and implement work order projects (scheduling, materials, labor, etc.), be capable of meeting governmental licensing requirements, and be familiar with "Green" initiatives towards energy independence in support of USMC effort to reduce fuel consumption. The Master Electrician will lead a crew of Contractor electricians on maintenance efforts at Camp Leatherneck, and report to the Contractor Facility Manager. Position requires a willingness to take on a large amount of responsibility. Requirement for Commercial and Residential service experience in a variety of conditions including large service switch gear (1200 amp - 6000 amp+).
Typical Skills:
Operate and maintain electrical equipment, instruments, appliances, and other electrically operated or controlled devices. Experience with installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems. Thorough knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC). Thorough knowledge of all applicable laws, rules, and standards regulating electrical construction and installation practices. Thorough knowledge of electrical test equipment, instruments, and appliances used in the electrical trade. Functions of high voltage, high horsepower motor systems including their associated control and data acquisition systems. Functions of electronics and electronic circuits. Working knowledge of OSHA standards for flash-over protection. Working knowledge of the installation and operation of equipment operating at or over 600 V nominal.

- Meet governmental licensing requirements as required.
- Solar experience is desirable.
- Management and Crew Lead experience is desirable.
- Willingness to accept significant responsibility.
- Commercial and Residential electric construction and service experience including large service switch gear (1200 amp- 6000 amp+).
- Knowledge required includes comprehensive understanding of the NEC and familiarity with the IBC. Perform other related tasks as required.
