Electro Magnetic Design Engineer II-HC Job

The successful candidate will : join the magnet/gradient engineering team, centered in Florence, SC, USA. participate in all phases of the product development life cycle, from concept and product specification generation, to manufacturing ramp up and manufacturing production support, optimizing functionality, manufacturability, reliability, serviceability and cost. Essential Responsibilities Responsibilities are presented for superconducting magnet design. o Electromagnetic design and analysis of superconducting magnets o Design and analysis of shim systems and quench protections systems o Test support for final assembly and functional test of superconducting magnets o Root cause analysis for magnet failures o Support for quality and/or reliability efforts on superconducting magnets o Follow-up support for magnet installation productivity and/or failures at hospital site o Preparation/presentation of design and analysis reports on magnets, gradient coils and interactions o Develop product, component test and specifications for superconducting magnets o Design leadership of productivity projects (both product cost and life cycle cost reduction) o Coordinate cross-functional design, analysis and testing. o Support manufacturing lean initiatives o Provide creative solutions to unstructured product design issues from both factory and field. Qualifications/Requirements: MS Physics, EE or related field Ability to analyze and design complex products: Electromagnetic design and analysis of superconducting magnets Electromagnetic design and analysis of magnetic shielding for customer sites Electromagnetic analysis of interactions between gradient coil and magnet Root cause analysis of magne defects Root cause analysis of image quality defects related to magnet and gradient coil Flexibility in handling challenging, multi-tasking workload. Ability to work with cross-functional, multidisciplinary teams. Additional Eligibility Qualifications GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Desired Characteristics PhD in Physics, EE or related field Five+ years experience with superconducting magnet design and manufacture Experience with passive shimming systems and software Experience with design and analysis of superconducting quench protection systems Experience developing superconducting magnet design and/or analysis software Experience with electromagnetic simulation tools such as Vector Fields, Ansoft, or ANSYS Experience in numerical analysis tools and optimization methods. Leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Capability to generate innovative concepts Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certification.
