Specific Job Description Has experience in modeling and simulation of optical systems and sensors. Has laboratory hands on skills involving electro-optics such as lasers, sensors, optical components (lenses, telescopes, polarization elements, etc.) and the experience to specifiy and procure the necessary components. Must be able to verify primary physical principles and algorithms using testbeds that the person and team has developed for this purpose. The job requires working with personnel who have high specialities in design, such as optical and mechanical, thermal design, etc., and is able to work in a team environment to develop or prove a testbed or space product to requirements. Standard Job Description Conducts research and plans development and design of gas and solid state lasers, masers, infrared, and other light emitting and light sensitive devices. Designs electronic circuitry and optical components with specific characteristics to fit within specified mechanical limits and to perform according to specifications. May conduct application analysis to determine commercial, industrial, scientific, medical, military or other use for electro-optical devices.
