Summary of Position:

Qualified individual will have demonstrated experience in developing/designing analog and digital circuitry and embedded firmware.  Candidate will have demonstrated knowledge of current and upcoming electronics technology, circuit design and analysis, embedded firmware coding, and electronics assembly processes.  Individual will develop new products for sale and complete significant upgrades to existing products.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

·          Develop high level and detailed architectures for the electronic and firmware subsystems.  Complete detailed specifications, circuit designs and code structures, calculations, analyses, and simulations for major hardware and/or firmware components.

·          Coordinate the fabrication and assembly of circuit board assemblies and other electrical subassemblies for conceptual models and prototypes.  Debug the electronic hardware and firmware individually or by providing technical direction to other assigned team members.  Develop and implement product specific diagnostic and troubleshooting procedures to identify root causes for problems associated with prototype functionality and performance.

·          Keep abreast of new and emerging technologies, processes and components in one or more areas of engineering expertise.  Participate in evaluating the technical feasibility and benefits of incorporating recent developments into new and enhanced products.

·          Prepare Engineering documentation (i.e. specifications, schematics, circuit layouts, bills of material, etc.).  Review preliminary documentation packages for technical completeness and accuracy and provide technical direction to Documentation Control personnel.

·          Interface regularly with external suppliers and customers to identify and evaluate new technologies, components and processes, or to troubleshoot problems with products.

·          Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

Education and Experience:

BSEE and 8+ years experience designing analog/digital circuitry and embedded firmware programming.  Candidates must have experience working with instrumentation or devices that take measurements.

 

 

Computer Skills Required:

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 2007 (or higher), electronics design software (OrCAD/Allegro preferred), and experience programming in C.  Statistics and data analysis software (MiniTab, MATLAB, etc.) is desirable.
