Embedded Software Engineer, Galway

Our client is a well established manufacturing group based in Galway. Due to expansion of their core market, they are now establishing a new team in their centre in Galway and as part of this expansion they are now hiring an embedded software engineer.

 

We are seeking embedded software engineers with experience in embedded linux, wireless technologies (cellular and wifi) and embedded networking/routing services.

Responsibilities include the following:

•           New Product Development

o          Develop engineering requirements, in collaboration with System Engineering

o          Develop design specifications and architecture

o          Proactively interact with on- and off-site colleagues during all stages of product development

o          Implement embedded software on 16/32 microprocessor platforms and embedded OSs

o          Develop in a structured, disciplined approach that facilitates quality deliverables

o          Define and develop unit tests as part of the Product Development process

o          Meet or exceed schedule and performance objectives and milestones

o          Work in a small, dedicated team environment with involvement from product definition through to production

•           Sustaining, support and continual improvement

o          Define and develop code to support product enhancements and custom application needs

o          Work on continual process improvements

           

Required Background

Graduate in Software Engineering, Electronics or Computer Engineering;

Dynamic, highly motivated individual with passion for innovation and creative solutions;

Demonstrated track record of meeting schedule and performance objectives;

Embedded software experience developing with C and/or C++ for 8/16/32 bit micro controllers;

Experience with Linux operating systems, both host and embedded;

Experience with device drivers, linux and windows;

Competence in scripting and scripting languages and utilities: e.g. make files, build scripts, perl, python, bash, sed, awk, cron (others);

Experience with wireless communications technologies: e.g. Cellular, Wifi,;

Experience with embedded networking services: e.g. NAT; DHCP client/server; router services; secure sockets; VPN – SSL, IPSec, Certifications, public key encryption; IPv4/IPv6; embedded web server;

Ability to work in an agile, time-critical environment;

Experience with Cloud Computing (e.g. php, python, ruby-on-rails, mysql, C#, .NET, others) would be an advantage...
