Located at our office in Van Buren Twp., Michigan, the Vehicle Controls Project Engineer is responsible for the development of embedded software, automotive control systems, vehicle electrical integration and automotive ECU development and testing.
Position Requirements
- BS in engineering required, MS preferred
- Minimum 5 years experience in embedded software, vehicle control systems, vehicle electrical integration and vehicle ECU development and testing
- Experience with automotive test tools such as DMM, oscilloscope, ETAS tools and Vector tools
- Thorough understanding of vehicle electrical systems, including communications protocols such as LIN, CAN, FlexRay, J1939, sensor and actuator interfacing, power and ground distribution and fusing
- Versed in the use of controls development and rapid prototyping tools such as ASCET/INTECRIO, MATLAB/Simulink/RTW, dSPACE MicroAutoBox, TargetLink, ETAS ES-1000 and MotoTron MotoHawk
- Able to perform plant modeling of vehicle systems and components at the level of mean-value models and 1-D simulations
- Versed in hardware-in-the-loop and software-in-the-loop simulation, testing and validation of automotive ECU hardware, software and control strategies
- Knowledge of the fundamentals of control system analysis and design
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, engineering consulting environment
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Software process knowledge and experience related to embedded software development and controls development, ISO 26262 and AUTOSAR experience are desirable
- Experience with and an understanding of at least one or more of the following would be a plus: spark-ignited engine, compression engine, boosted engine, FIE, emissions systems and after-treatment, automatic transmissions (AMT, DTC, planetary), transmission shift control and clutch control, vehicle dynamics control, hybrid vehicle systems, energy storage systems, electric motor operation and control, battery management systems or active safety systems
