Job Description
The controller position is accountable for the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports (group and statutory reporting), maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (US GAAP + local GAAP) or international financial reporting standards (IFRS).
On top of this, the Controller is responsible for the coaching and mentoring of the local finance managers in the different countries, in order to increase the involvement and further development of those colleagues.
The controller is directly reporting to the Group CFO, located in the US.
Job Requirements
The controller candidate should have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience and 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in financial reporting for the European region for a major company or division of a large corporation. Masters in Business Administration is a plus. Preference will be given to candidates with the Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations, and multilingual skills (French, Dutch and English.) Preference also given to individuals with exposure to financial planning and analysis in addition to the core reporting skill set. People management and coaching is one of the strengths of the ideal candidate.
