EMEA Fixed Income Strategist – Financial Institutions Group (FIG) recruitment

Business Unit Overview:
The Financial Institutions Group (FIG) fixed income team offers an array of products designed to meet specific bank and insurance client risk and return profiles. Incorporating the expertise of BlackRock's sector specialists and research analysts, each client portfolio is tailored to reflect specific investment guidelines and objectives with respect to interest rate exposure, sector allocation and credit quality.
Job Purpose/Background:
An energetic business leader with deep fixed income and insurance sector expertise to partner with PMG and GCG in helping deliver investment and service performance for our clients out of our London office.
Key Responsibilities:
Represent credibly and effectively the FIG Fixed Income Investment team to our clients:
- Attend client and prospect meetings, as representative of the investment team, and allowing PMs to focus on portfolio management
- Coordinate and host proactive market update calls
- Provide regular commentary on markets and portfolios
Partner with leaders in GCG and PMG to grow the FIG business both by developing new business as well as servicing existing clients and retaining business:
- Provide thought leadership in the creation and implementation of fixed income solutions to meet our client needs
Provide business leadership and manage team/process to provide necessary investment and operational support:
- Set business plans and financial targets in partnership with relationship managers; participate in budget planning
- Execute portfolio restructuring/rebalancing
- Provide investment content for client materials
Knowledge/Experience: Insurance industry knowledge:
- In-depth knowledge of the insurance industry and its players
- Proven experience in servicing insurance clients
Investment knowledge:
- Strong fixed income buy-side knowledge with credible familiarity of global macro economies and capital markets
- Ability to articulate and discuss credibly investment philosophy and processes
Relationship management:
- Ability to work collaboratively in intense team environments and communicate effectively with internal colleagues and external constituents
- Ability to build strong trusted working relationships across the firm
Business leadership:
- Demonstrable record of success in managing a large-scale business and managing high performing talent at a financial service firm
Passion:
- Passion, confidence and ambition to build a sustainable business in a competitive market place
Skills/Qualifications:
- BA/BS, with strong quantitative skills. MBA/MS and/or CFA preferred
- Significant relevant industry experience required
- IMC qualification required
