Job Summary:
 
The Partnership for Defense Innovation Research Development Lab has a mission to rapidly evaluate, integrate and test COTS and GOTS technologies that are relevant to Special Operation Forces applications. New products, innovations, research and development in all areas of emergent cellular and encryption technologies are applied to address the unique communication challenges of government users. In this role as an EMI/EMC Test Engineer you will support Government-sponsored research and development of such systems, with an emphasis on wireless technologies.
 

Duties and Responsibilities: 
Perform Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) and RF measurements in accordance with MIL-STD-461. Execute EMI and EMC tests to include development of test plans, site coordination, testing, data analysis, and report generation. Generate report documentation in compliance with customer standards.

Perform Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Electromagnetic Interference engineering analytic analyses utilizing models and software programs.

Investigate existing engineering software applications, written in C++ and MATLAB, to recommend and implement modifications to improve overall quality of data analysis applications.

This work includes interacting with customers to define, document, analyze, perform, and interpret tests for systems, subsystems, components, or modifications. The Test Engineer will identify functional problems and suggest resolutions, evaluating system concepts and designs, performing independent research/analysis and providing Subject Matter Expert expertise in the area of RF and EMI/EMC compliance testing.

Some travel required.

Required Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's (BS) or Master's (MS) degree. Preferably in Electrical Engineering

Minimum 5 years’ experience in performing RF, EMI and EMC measurements and technical evaluations of electronic/ communication systems in accordance with MIL-STD-461 Standards.

Ability to demonstrate knowledge of RF engineering theories and principles coupled with working knowledge and expertise of RF test and measurement equipment is required. (RF measurement equipment includes Spectrum Analyzers, Power Meters, Signal Generators, etc.)

Ability to demonstrate knowledge and background in software development. Must be able to review existing applications/codes and suggest /implement code modifications.

Familiarity with commercial cellular networks and standards, including CDMA, UMTS, and GSM is a plus

Experience in digital signal processing techniques is desirable.

Must have strong working knowledge of MS Office products in order to analyze data and create
engineering project-related reports.
 

Must possess excellent skills in analysis, communication, and customer service.
 

Ability to obtain a TS/SCI Clearance. (An active clearance is preferred.)
