Position Responsibilities
The Senior Consultant—Employee Communications develops and implements internal communication strategies and plans that engage, align and inspire employees with Verizon's vision and business strategy and drives employees' understanding of Verizon's priorities and key initiatives.
Provides strategic counsel to senior executives and develops messaging and internal presentations for company updates, key initiatives, industry issues and other topics.
Provides strategic planning and support for Verizon's employee programs to influence culture change and promote an inclusive work.
In partnership with project teams, marketing and external communications, lead internal communications for key corporate initiatives such as product launches, acquisitions, transformation programs, etc.
Creates effective internal communication processes and share best practices across the global communications team.
Understands social media and can leverage social media strategies and tactics to reach audiences.
Partners with IT to identify, leverage and integrate technology that will increase the effectiveness and timeliness of internal communications. Researches industry trends (e.g., through networking, benchmarking, industry publications) to identify new methods for message delivery.
Establishes and tracks metrics that help correlate internal communications programs to employee productivity and organization performance.
Required Skills Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in English, Journalism, Communications or other related field.
- 7+ years of experience in professional writing experience and managing communications programs, including global employee communications, brand promotion and change management communications.
- Must have exceptional writing and communication skills.
- Excellent PowerPoint skills.
- Experience in successfully writing communications.
- Ability to manage deadlines and quickly changing priorities to deliver results as part of a fast-paced dynamic team.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
- Maintain highest level of confidentiality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.
- Meticulous attention to detail required.
- Mastery in Associated Press-style.
Desired Skills Experience
- Masters Degree in English, Journalism, Communications or other related field.
- Experience planning events for senior executives.
