Employment Counsel
The successful Candidate will be joining a busy legal team. They will report to the Head of Legal for France who in turn reports to the General Counsel (Europe Asia). They will work closely with the French and Swiss offices of BGC Partners and Cantor.
There is a genuine global dimension to the remit as well as substantial autonomy and responsibility. The environment is fast paced and the customer base is very demanding therefore the role requires a person who is able to deal with pressure, can commit to deadlines and work at a good pace.
The work includes:
Employment and commercial advice.
Review, draft and negotiate a wide range of front and back office agreements including employment contracts, settlement agreements, consultancy agreements, severance documents, loan agreements.
Involvement and assistance with special projects including the opening of new offices and acquisitions,
Would be expected to deal with own internal clients including those in overseas offices. Predominately in matters relating to French law but exposure to laws of other jurisdictions will also be gained.

- Confident to tackle wide range of legal documentation and relevant legal issues

- Is able to liaise with and give guidance to the business and other departments in a firm, yet polite and effective manner

- Shares knowledge/experience with team
- Strong developed written and verbal communication skills in English and French
- Good reporting skills
Experience, qualifications and other requirements specific to the role:
Qualified in a reputable firm with 2-4 years solid post qualification experience in private practice or already in house in financial services or other relevant industry sector. Would also suit a French lawyer of equivalent qualification or first move in house.
