Energy Forecasting Analyst, Major European Energy supplier up recruitment
A self-motivated and forward thinking analyst, you will support the improvement of energy forecasting processes and systems to enable effective and efficient trading and to mitigate the risk of imbalance exposure. You will have a high level of exposure from generation to supply through internal liaison with portfolio optimisation and trading across both the wholesale and retail portfolios. This therefore provides an excellent opportunity to gain understanding and experience of the commercial environment that our client operates in, and offers a great exposure to the industry in general.
Key responsibilities and features of this job are:
- Assisting with development of forecasting methodologies, processes and systems up to 5 year forecast detail
- Monitoring the markets and provide both customers and suppliers with regular updates
- Data analysis/cost based analysis
- Representing demand forecasting interests with third party companies
- Build relationships with stakeholders
Candidates are expected to be numerate and analytical - holding a relevant numerate degree with at least a 2:1 or above. Knowledge of UK gas markets is a must, with experience in commercial/analytical data manipulation preferable. The post-holder will need to understand the drivers of gas demand of large customers (customer profiles, weather etc.) and therefore develop and update accurate forecasting models. A high level of IT skills are required, particularly in Excel and VB for modelling. Database experience with either Access, SQL or Python is required too. Working as part of a team the successful candidate will have an eye for detail and be orientated to work towards tight deadlines and cope in a high-pressure environment.
