Energy Major looking for experienced Gas & Power Business Analysts – £35,000
One of the largest Energy companies in Europe with a vast International reach is looking to bring experienced Energy professionals with strong Business Analyst backgrounds to work in the ETRM function of their central London office.
The role-holder is the key instrument of business transformation for their functional area. They are the decision maker on process solution design for a functional area core to the operation of Energy Trading and Risk Management and Optimisation.
The incumbent has responsibility for:
- Acting as the guardian of key business processes, and their actions preserve the longevity of the business investment in key systems used by Optimisation.
- Developing a business architecture strategy through determining, documenting and understanding the business process; determining and documenting the user requirements and functional specification for specific business area, using standard Project templates where possible.
- Collaborating with senior management and other key stakeholders to capture, evaluate, challenge and prioritise business requirements.
- Making sure that the best functional process investments are made by using their deep knowledge of their functional area of expertise and their insight into the Energy industry.
- Presenting proposal material to executive project boards, key stakeholders and the programme team, including strategic partners and third party suppliers.
- Supporting business acceptance of developed solutions, including process and system walk through and business acceptance testing.
- Leading a group of activities that need to be managed through the development lifecycle and ensuring compliance to business requirements.
- Mentoring and allocating work to a small team of assigned Business Analysts, managing their personal development plans and act as an escalation point for all individual issues.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Graduated from a top university, with a minimum of a 2.1 or equivalent.
- Experience in the Energy Trading and Risk Management field, with relevant experience using ETRM software
- A broad, enterprise-wide view of the business and varying degrees of appreciation for strategy, processes and capabilities, enabling technologies and governance
- Experience of interpreting business needs into actual business requirements
- Ability to be flexible and work analytically in a problem solving environment, with attention to detail, a commitment to quality and the ability to think strategically
- Excellent foundation in business analysis skills using a variety of standard techniques.
- Strong understanding of project lifecycles and the ability to produce comprehensive, complete documentation without functional gaps. Good understanding of Prince 2 or similar project governance approaches.
- Understanding of trading commodity activities in relation to the Energy markets is preferable
- Excellent communication, presentation and written skills, with relevant experience of dealing with, influencing and persuading senior executives, business managers and third parties at a strategic level.
