Energy Major seeks Risk Analyst – up to £50,000

This well established energy firm is in need of a senior analyst to join its portfolio market risk team which works closely with the front and middle office and covers all traded energy products. The Senior Analyst role involves being part of the wider Energy Market and Credit Risk business unit that ensures a robust control framework is in place to identify, monitor and mitigate energy market and credit risks. Additionally there is a lucrative package on offer.

The Senior Analyst role will involve:
• Leading the implementation of risk indicators and tools developed by Portfolio Market Risk for use in other teams in Energy Market Credit Risk
• Manage the maintenance and improvement of tools and data efficiency within Energy Market Credit Risk.
• Design and implement back testing of risk models to ensure that they are fit for purpose.
• Solve complex problems through an in depth understanding of risk concepts
• Direct the day-to-day workload of the work stream and have task-setting and coaching responsibilities for an analyst.
• Lead the development plans to back test risk models, perform these tests, interpret the outcomes and make proposals for model improvement where appropriate.
• Define test plans and perform such testing in order to ensure risk tools are robust and accurate before submitting for operational implementation.

The Senior Analyst role will require:
• Extensive knowledge of the energy sector and/or experience of another professional industry in a risk function
• In depth knowledge of processes and techniques used to assess the market risk implications of operational decisions
• Professional qualification or education to high standard in numerate subject such as mathematics, finance or economics and/or experience within market risk function
• Demonstrable track record of identifying areas for improvement in processes and technical solutions.
