Energy Market Analyst – Oil Trading recruitment
Duties and Responsibilities
This is a new role within the market analysis team, providing support to colleagues in marketing services and corporate planning. The Energy Market Analyst will be responsible for producing reports on all commercial and strategic aspects of the European energy market. It is important for the incumbent to be able to think outside of the box, to be capable of challenging existing theory and practice with sufficient grasp of the market to make proposals that will enhance company profitability. He/she will become an integral part of the tem that is gathering and disseminating essential market intelligence to the highest level. Consequentially the individual should possess the necessary gravitas to ensure that their views and opinions are heard.
This role acts as a key interface between colleagues in the head office and energy industry in Europe.
Candidate Profile
- To take on this challenging and demanding position, the company is looking for a graduate in a commercial marketing, economics or, perhaps, engineering discipline and, preferably, supplemented by a master's or PhD qualification.
- With around 15 years' relevant industry experience, ideally including some practical work experience in the refining sector, candidates must be able to demonstrate strong strategic analytical, planning and economic skills allied to an in-depth knowledge of the crude oil market in Europe covering key areas such as sales and marketing, trading, oil supply and demand as well as an understanding of the crude oil slate of European refineries.
- Strong logical analytical skills, the ability to recognise and evaluate relevant tactics and strategies and recommend and implement appropriate solutions are also key attributes desired.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills will be complemented by expertise in spread sheet analysis and PowerPoint presentations. Experience in the use and development of knowledge based intelligence systems would be a distinct advantage.
