Energy Risk, Interim Risk Infrastructure Manager recruitment
A leading multi-naitonal energy firm based in central London requires a 'Risk Infrastructure Manager' to drive existing company Energy Risk projects / initiatives and to manage, support, steer and provide insight to a Matrix of three seperate risk teams.
This is a 6 month interim contract, paying between £400 - £500 per day, based in central London. It has arisen to cover maternity leave.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Create, develop and lead a motivated team committed to continual improvement and personal development
- Develop and maintain methodologies, policies, processes and systems to achieve a high standard that provides the business with accurate, efficient and effective measurement and control of market and credit risks.
- Influence, guide and challenge senior managers and stakeholders to appropriately consider the impact of business change on the risk control framework in order to improve the quality of commercial decision-making
- Ensure that the impact of business change on Energy Management Credit Risk is assessed and incorporated into decision-making
- Assess Energy Management Credit Risk resource requirements and skills are sufficient to meet business needs and develop and implement action plans to address any issue
- Actively promote the integration and co-ordination of Energy Management Credit Risk teams to deliver overall objectives
Scope of Role:
- - The Manager of Risk Infrastructure reports to the Head of Energy Market Credit Risk, who in turn reports to the Finance Director
- - Three managers report directly to the Manager of Risk Infrastructure: the Models Methods Manager, the Systems, Processes Projects Manager and the Governance Manager. Whilst the role holder is responsible for ensuring all the accountabilities are delivered, the input is primarily one of steering, providing vision and securing the necessary resources and business engagement. The role holder is expected to deputise for the Head of EMCR on project boards on a regular basis and on occasion at Executive level committees.
- - The Manager of Risk Infrastructure will require the ability to understand complex theories and techniques and their application in a practical context. The role holder must also have a deep understanding of the trade life cycle, trading and risk systems and have expertise of project and programme management and governance.
- - The role has a wide-ranging impact and, in some cases, across the whole of the Energy business, through the definition of the market risk control framework directly and indirectly through providing expert insight and challenge.
- - The Manager of Risk Infrastructure must have excellent stakeholder management skills, including advanced influencing and a focus on identifying key requirements. The Manager of Risk Infrastructure must be able to challenge, motivate and support a team of highly skilled analysts.
- - The role holder should be able to provide innovative solutions to often complex, commercial developments.
- - The Manager of Risk Infrastructure is responsible for making recommendations to the Head of Energy Market Credit Risk and the Risk Control Committee to approve new methodologies and policies.
- - The role holder will be required to be resilient to an environment characterised by multiple projects, tight deadlines and constrained resources.
Preferred technical knowledge:
- An up to date and in depth knowledge of energy markets and associated trading risk management systems, processes, policies and methodologies.
- Strong project delivery experience
- Highly analytical and numerical; comfortable and credible discussing technical subject matter
- Exceptional stakeholder management up to and including Exec level, including influencing, negotiation and consulting
- Able to challenge accepted ways and consider options to optimise business change
