Assistant Director of Operations
The Assistant Director will manage all engineering functions and assist in the management of the operations and maintenance of Veolia Energy-Baltimore plants and distribution system in a cost-effective, safe and reliable manner.
 Scope Responsibilities:
•             Manages all internal and consultant engineering functions, project implementation and execution of specified Base Business projects,  maintaining  compliance with published company operating and safety policies and procedures.
•             Controls the design changes to the steam plants, distribution system and in customer's buildings.
•             Prepares and administers the Operations Department capital budget and associated projects.
•             Approves all drawings and specifications associated with capital and repair projects in the Operations Department.
•             Develops, maintains and executes plant, chilled water, steam and hot water system computer modeling programs that ensure the most efficient configuration and operation of the plants and systems.
•             Complete the startup and coordinate the automation of projects.
•             Leads the Operations Department in the takeover/stmi-up of new base business projects.
•             Provides engineering and project management support to the Base Business Development Department.
•             Interprets the results of weld radiographic testing, with authority to approve deviations.
•             Initiates, develops, and maintains close working relationships with appropriate permitting agencies, regulatory agencies, vendors, AE community, legal community, construction industry, and other sectors of the community as appropriate and needed.
•Assist in the preparation and administration the Operations Department capital budget and associated projects.
•             Assist in the management and control of the ongoing operations and maintenance of the steam, chilled water and hot water distribution systems, customer service, engineering, purchasing, and plants in a cost effective, safe and reliable manner.
•             Assist in the development and maintenance of systems for tracking plant activities (including preventive maintenance and spare parts inventory) resulting in plant efficiency and minimized    costs.

Required Skills, Knowledge Experience:
 
·         BS in Engineering from an accredited college or university
·         Minimum 10 -15 years' experience in engineering, operations, maintaining, and managing stationary or marine boiler operations and plant/distribution systems .
 
·         Minimum 10 years on-site project management and supervisory experience in increasingly responsible positions involving budgeting, planning, procurement practices, scope of work development, vendor and sub-contractor selection, and contract administration.
·         Thorough understanding of the principles, management and regulatory requirements for overseeing water quality management, outfall controls, fuel systems, asbestos controls and metering.
·         Thorough understanding of the maintenance including preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance of piping systems and the associated manholes.
·         Demonstrated computer proficiency in the computer software including financial spreadsheets, database programs, project scheduling programs and AutoCAD.
·         Demonstrated ability to compose and write policy memoranda and other correspondence
 Preferred Skills, Knowledge Experience:
•             P.E. license is desirable.
