ENGINEER - RESIDENT

SUMMARY Perform engineering analysis and design of components in accordance with engineering standards and project scope. Support vehicle manufacturing operations with real-time design engineering response to urgent and systemic issues affecting operations. This is a 2nd shift position. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Researches, studies, and proposes use of new technologies to be used in the development of new and improved products. 2. Maintain effective communication with suppliers, internal and external customers, and outside resources concerning technical issues. 3. Enforce the proper use of engineering criteria and drawing standards. Ensure that technical issues are conducted within the framework of company policies and procedures. 4. Evaluate designs for performance, safety, and reliability. 5. Directs preparation of layouts, drawings, specifications, and bills of material. 6. Perform engineering analysis, perform calculations, make technical recommendations, and support the selection of parts, components, and materials while meeting specification requirements. 7. Perform job duties in an ethical, professional manner which is consistent with the Oshkosh Way. Conduct duties consistent with the Company?s mission statement, quality objectives, and defined policies and procedures. 8. Provide technical assistance for prototype, pilot, and production support. 9. Analyze and resolve issues reported to Engineering via verbal or written communication. 10. Provide direction to designers and drafters regarding engineering analysis. 11. Establishes priorities for work delegated to others. 12. Prepare technical proposals, quotations, reports, and presentations. 13. Solve problems in an organized manner, ensuring root cause is understood and addressed with proposed and adopted solution. 14. Spend 50-75% of the time will on the manufacturing floor understanding issues and solving problems. 15. Represent product engineering as a key member on Manufacturing Zone-Team. 16. Lead/support implementation of variant (pilot builds) and engineering changes into the production process. 17. Reduce customer defects identified in process, at Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI), and at Customer inspection of product. 18. Utilize various engineering tools including personal computer/CAD/Excel, to complete assigned projects. 19. Lift components up to 40 lbs and climb/crawl vehicles for inspection. 20. Other duties as assigned. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS · Bachelor?s of Science in Engineering · 6 or more months of related experience or internship experience PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS · Able to obtain a secret security clearance as required by job duties · Proficient in use of CATIA, SmarTeam, JD Edwards, and MS Excel · Possess a strong mechanical knowledge of vehicles and related systems · Strong verbal presentation and written communication skills · Excellent time management and organizational skills · Demonstrated problem solving skills · Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize ~MOSKD~# Oshkosh Corporation is an Equal Opportunity employer and is committed to providing equal opportunities for all employees and applicants.
